Mid-Town Key West
The locals' Key West — between Old Town and the airport.
Mid-Town runs roughly from White Street to Kennedy Drive. It's where most year-round residents live: real grocery stores, real coffee shops, neighborhood happy hours that aren't on a tourist map. If your hotel is here you'll find easier parking, shorter waits, and a quieter pace — and you're still ten minutes by bike from Duval.
White Street is the commercial spine — Blue Heaven, Help Yourself, and the bakery at 1300 White are all worth the detour. The cemetery is here too; one of the most photographed in Florida.
How far to Duval?+
About 1.5 miles from the western edge. 8-minute bike, 5-minute golf cart, 25-minute walk.
Where to eat?+
Blue Heaven (breakfast/brunch — yes the rooster), Help Yourself (smoothies/grain bowls), El Siboney (Cuban classic), 5 Brothers Grocery (Cuban coffee, locals' counter).
